December 2020: Grounded
'Grounded' is a word on the rise. What does it mean to be 'grounded'? What are the benefits? What practices 'ground' us?
Grounded, owns equally
strengths and weaknesses,
understands without judgement,
values others,
is always now, is always.
words of wisdom
Words like ‘balanced’, ‘centred’, ‘grounded’ speak of someone with self-clarity, clarity about others, not easily blown, whose moral compass is strong, who look for connection, who value all: people and nature, the future and present, the small and great.
take 5
Either sitting, or walking, bring full attention to each of the five senses, spend one minute on each in turn. At the end, how do you feel?
…and an experiment!
Well-grounded comes from depth and balance. From drinking deeply and giving generously. Good food, good exercise. Regular work and regular relaxation. Awareness and reflection. Solitude and people. Meditation and engagement. Nurture and positive thinking. Can you timetable a little of all you need to live in balance?
